Questions
Is “X-Ray” related to AWS X-Ray?+
No. X-Ray is a working name for a Hexabyrd product for Dynamics 365. It has no relation to the AWS tracing service.
What permissions does it need?+
A Microsoft sign-in with access to the environment. We recommend a dedicated user or application user with the read-only “X-Ray Reader” role.
Does it consume my API limits?+
A little. Scans are light and paged, and data quality checks use aggregates and samples instead of reading whole tables.
Does it work on-premises?+
No. X-Ray supports Dynamics 365 / Dataverse online.
How is it different from Application Insights?+
Application Insights traces transactions. X-Ray shows what is connected, who owns it, what changed and how ready your data is for AI.
